Quirky App Of The Day: Head Hunter Makes Mercenary Work Seem Fun

Lats face it, many people would rather be out doing something important than be stuck in a cubicle all day. So, why not go out and kill massive bugs for a living? It’s true that your clothing and armor would be thrashed at the end of each day. It’s also true that you might not even come home that evening. Yet, the satisfaction of dead bugs lying in your wake must be worth something. Head Hunters makes it well worth your while.

    The stage begins.

I go around my house killing spiders and bees to keep my kids safe. Do I get paid for it? No. No, I do not. Would I like to get paid for it? Well, not particularly. I hate bugs with a passion, and I wouldn’t want to be around them every day regardless of whether I leave them living or not. There are some people who would love to get paid to kill bugs.

Head Hunters pays you for every evil creature from Hades that you send back to its unholy maker. You can use that money to buy weapons, upgrades, and health. Here’s the kicker: you have to survive a set amount of time in each level before you have access to the supply. You can still access the supplies after each level, but if you need a health boost in the middle of gameplay, you have to wait.

Gameplay is a little different from other shooter games. You don’t orient yourself to shoot your opponents. The trigger button on the right is also on a wheel that you use to aim. You tap the direction on the wheel that you want to shoot. This allows you to move away from the monsters as quickly as possibly without having to turn to shoot.

The level is finished when a predetermined amount of monster bug things have been killed. Haven’t been keeping track of how many bad guys you bumped off? Not to worry. The left corner display keeps track of how far along you are in the level. Once you hit 100 percent completion, you earn a credit amount and can stock up on supplies before heading off to the next massacre.

Head Hunter is available in the App Store for the awesome price of FREE!

  • How To Sync Google Contacts With Your iPhone

How To Sync Google Contacts With Your iPhone

Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we’re here to help. This is iOS Advice.

Using Google to store your contacts can be very handy, especially if you use more than one of their products. If you’ve just made the switch to iPhone, or would like to have your Google contacts on an iOS device, there’s an easy way to get everything in sync.

This will pull your Google contacts right into the Phone or Contacts app within iOS. It will also provide you with “push” for your Gmail account if you have one setup.

If you’d like to sync your Google contacts with iOS, watch the video or follow the steps below:

Note: If you’ve already imported your contacts using a different method, this will create duplicates and may be a little messy.

Step 1: Go into the Settings app on your device.

Step 2: Next, scroll down to “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and tap on it.

Step 3: Under the “Accounts” section at the top of the screen, tap on the row labeled “Add Account…” On the next screen, tap on “Microsoft Exchange.”

Step 4: Enter your Google account’s email address, password, and a short description, then tap on “Next” in the top right corner.

Step 4: In the “Server” row, type in “m.google.com” without the quotes. Then, copy and paste your email address, or enter it again in the “Username” row. After you’re done with that, tap on “Next” in the top right corner.

Step 5: Finally, select the services you’d like to sync. If you’d only like to sync your contacts, turn off “Mail” and “Calendars.” If you leave the “Mail” option enabled, your Gmail account will “push” new messages to your device immediately. When you’re done configuring these options, tap on “Save” in the top right corner.

When you open the Phone or Contacts app, your Google contacts will appear in the list. This group is now in sync with Google and will update when contacts are added or changed on either end. If you need more help getting this feature setup, check out the video tutorial.

Now that you’ve learned how to sync your Google contacts, if there’s something else you’d like to see on iOS Advice, please let us know. Send us an email with your question or comment and we might feature your suggestion in a future article. If you need a little more advice, check out our other helpful tutorials.

Treat Your Friends Right With New Social Gifting Platform Treater

Do you like sending gifts to your friends? If yes, then you’re in for a treat as soon as you download the recently released Treater app for iPhone.

Just like Karma, which was acquired by Facebook last May, Treater is an app that serves as a social gifting platform.

With Treater, you can easily send real gifts to your friends, specifically your friends on Facebook. Indeed, Treater’s tagline appears to be: “Don’t just like your friends, Treat them!”

Obviously, Treater requires that you sign in using your Facebook account before you can use it. Once you do, you’ll be instantly treated to the app’s friendly interface.

This interface lets you easily pick a Facebook friend and a treat to send to him or her. The treats you can send, which are made available by Treater’s partner merchants, run the gamut from cupcakes to mani pedis. You can even customize a treat for your special someone.

You also have the option to personalize your treat by attaching a photo or a message. Then, you can choose to have the recipient notified of your treat via text, email, or Facebook. But before your treat is sent, you must first, of course, pay for it by entering the details of any of your credit cards in the app.

Speaking of credit cards, your treat can be redeemed by your friend simply by showing the Treat Card on his or her smartphone. This Treat Card is then run like a credit card at checkout.

Designed for iPhone but not yet optimized for iPhone 5, Treater is available now in the App Store for free.

With Treater, you can give real gifts to your friends as you give the satisfaction of occasion-based or just-because generosity to yourself.
